Bob the Builder Meets Elton John

Bob the builder dvd with Elton JohnThere are millions of Bob movies to choose from and all are good watching but the absolute best has to be “Bob The Builder – A Christmas To Remember”. Bob’s twin brother is coming to visit from his home in the North Pole for Christmas and Bob is helping plan the Bobsville Christmas concert starring “Elton John”. The highlights for my boys are:

  • The daddy reindeer getting rescued by Bob’s brother while the baby reindeer looks on
  • Roley rehearsing with “John” then coming up with the stage name “Elton John”
  • Everyone bopping to “Crocodile Rock”

Bob the Builder is a great positive role model and we have cited his “Can we fix it?”…”Yes we can” motto on many occasions. The dvds are short, entertaining, don’t have bad language and are all about building and fixing things (which boys love). (more…)

My Boys Favourite DVDs

The following are the movies which my pre-school boys, aged 3 and 4 love the best.

  • Cars- Involves cars, trucks, lots of racing and a good story too plus we have toy versions of all the favourites so can act out the races at home.
  • Ice Age and Ice Age 2 The Meltdown – Probably my favourites of all the “cartoon” style kids movies.
  • Monsters Inc – The first 5 minutes are a bit scarey but if you forward past that, it is a brilliant and clever movie.
  • Bob The Builder – We have so many favourites I can’t really name them all.
  • Postman Pat – Very tame and happy but quite well done.
  • Shark Tale – Will Smith plays the main character and is very entertaining.
  • Pingu – Debates rage about what the penguins are actually saying but the boys love it just the same. Great if there’s lots of noise in the background as you don’t have to hear it. Also no bad words for kids to pick up on.

So, you’re probably thinking we watch a lot of tv, but actually the boys only ever watch dvds so haven’t really been exposed to ads and only an hour or less a day…normally at witching hour (around 5pm for the uninitiated) when I am trying make dinner and everyone is very tired.
